Ginger is the underground stem of the plant Zingiber officinale ground as spice, used whole or prepared otherwise. The total botannical classificatio of the plant is Kingdom: Plantae - Angiosperms - Monocots - Commelinids - Order: Zingiberales - Family: Zingiberaceae - Genus: Zingiber.

Ginger tastes pungently due to nonvolatile phenylpropanoid-derived compounds, particularly gingerols and shogaols, which form from gingerols when ginger is dried or cooked.

Medical uses of ginger
Ginger is a genaral stimulant of bodily processes. It is especially good to stimulate blood circulation generally and through the tissues. It also stimulates the production of sweat and also the functions of other glands that secret fluids or slimes.
Because of these effects, ginger helps to clean the body from toxins.
Ginger stimulates most activities in the digestive system, for example the secretion of the digestive glands and the movements of the intestines. This general stimulative effect makes the spice effective for many types of digestive symptoms.

Cardamom is several species of herbs within two genera of the ginger family Zingiberaceae, namely the genera Elettaria and Amomum.
Cardamom grows naturally in the tropical forests of India at high levels.
All the species produce small seedpods of triangular cross-section, spindle-shaped, with a thin paper-like skin and with small seeds within. The seed-pods of elattera are light green and those of amomum are somewhat greater and dark brown.

Amomum (black cardamom, brown cardamom, Kravan, Java cardamom, Bengal cardamom, Siamese cardamom, white or red cardamom) is commonly grown and sold in much of Asia and Australia.

How cardamom is used
